UK Treescapes Launch Meeting

10th December 2021 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Treescapes
Learn about the UK Treescapes Programme and hear firsthand from those making decisions about our trees and planting our new forests

About this event

The UK Treescapes Launch is a unique half-day event being led by the Ambassadors of the Future of UK Treescapes Programme, to ignite conversations around our woods, forests and treescapes.

Our trees help us tackle climate change, support animal life and benefit our well-being and culture. Yet our trees are also under threat from climate change, disease and demand for land. And unfortunately, this has led to decades of loss in animal and plant life, environmental quality and cultural heritage.

In the light of COP26’s promise to end deforestation by 2030, and the UK Government’s plans to drastically increase tree cover in the UK over the coming years, we must urgently start answering how we will achieve these goals.

Our programme is helping find answers to many of these questions, but we must do so with a focus on supporting those who will be making the decisions and planting our new forests, and those who are most affected by the changes

What will happen on the day?

This event will:

  • Introduce UK Treescapes’ current portfolio of projects
  • Provide a platform for the programme’s stakeholders to discuss their priorities and hopes for the future
  • And bring together all those with an interest in the programme, from researchers to artists, policymakers to community groups.

Who should attend?

This conference is for anyone carrying out research on forestry, woodlands and trees; for those managing woods and trees; and for those interested in being part of the dynamic community across the UK interested in protecting and regenerating our treescapes.

Please note this event will be hosted online and may be recorded and made available for those who cannot attend.
